Description
Quick. Think of a real-life hero of yours. Somebody you admire. How did they get to where they earned your regard?
They didn't do it alone. There's no such thing as a self-made man (or woman). Our genetics does not inherently bestow the required knowledge to make it in this world. Experience is valuable, but only if you can analyze it and put it in context.
So somewhere along the way your hero had help. Someone acted as a guide, a trainer, a mentor, a coach, a facilitator—a teacher of some form or another. Chances are they had several. If you know a lot about your hero chances are you know who those helpers were. Heroes aren't possible without someone who trained and encouraged them to develop the knowledge and skills that made their heroics possible.
In a world that increasingly values and rewards ignorance, a world where unfounded opinions are given equal or even greater weight than established facts, teachers are more crucial than ever before. Hell, devoting yourself to imparting knowledge to other human beings is becoming an act of rebellion, of subversion. No wonder politicians of every stripe love to demean and persecute teachers; just by making someone capable of thinking for themselves you're making them dangerous to the powers that be.
So this image is devoted to the teachers. I've chosen our resident teacher to represent and symbolize teachers of all forms everywhere. This is their day too.
Featured OCs, left to right: 's Violet Spike, my own (and 's) Duster, 's Cracovia, 's Denise, 's White Owl, 's Purity, and 's Amazon Arrow.
A tip o' the virtual hat to for coming up with and promoting Heroine Appreciation Day.
