Description
Break out the coconut shells and start knockin' em together, the girls have got new rides!
Phew that was a lot of work first getting the horses posed and then the figures posed on top of them, holding reins, feet in stirrups... Yeah the poor horsies may not be long for this earth. Still, it's a fantasy story, so there had to be horses in it sometime. And like most scenes, once you get the initial setup out of the way the rest of it ain't so bad. In fact one of the best things about a comic like this is once you get a new scene and characters in place you can create additional panels easily. You can shift the camera and make a few subtle pose adjustments and get a dynamic feel to the sequence. For example, in these four panels I did not change the poses of the horses at all once they were in their initial positions. Cheating? Maybe. But did you notice before you read that? Your focus was, I hope, where it should be, on the four main characters.
I realized after creating it that panel 2 is in the same position as a similar one on the previous page, with Duster alone with no background. Oh well, whatever. Partly I do those panels because, yes, they're easy to create and render, but I also do that to bring focus to that character, especially if they're saying or doing something significant. Or if they just look pretty.
The scene was lit entirely with a HDRI, by the way, no spots or anything else. Often for these sorts of outdoor shots I use Daz Studio's "Sun-Sky Only" option, but HDRIs offer some nice variations like this warm just-after-sunrise(or at other times, I guess, just-before-sunset) glow. It's fun to experiment.
Oh, yes... are some of you disappointed because after the previous page you were expecting a bunch of naughty "goddess worshipping"? Well go ahead and imagine that took place if it grinds your turkey.
